The Temple Street by Lee Xin Li features a street located in the heart of Chinatown. Some believe that the name Temple got its name from the Sri Mariamman Temple, Singapore's oldest Hindu temple, situated at the South Bridge Road end of the street. Established in 1827 by Narayana Pillay, who arrived from Penang in the company of Stamford Raffles during Raffles's second visit to Singapore in May 1819.
