As Singapore continues to undergo intensive restructuring and makeovers, and heritage buildings of yesteryear make way for new and ever-modern architecture, Lee Xin Li tries his best to capture these cherished memories and immortalise them with his drawings. Inspired by Hergé, the creator of Tintin, Xin Li's illustrations have a unique style that blends Hergé’s playfulness with meaningful nostalgia for Singapore’s iconic past. From the short-lived tramway system in the early 1900s to the historic Adelphi Hotel, and from the old Tanjong Pagar Railway Station to the Tanglin Barracks that preceded the Dempsey Hill of today, these nostalgic locales and moments in time are lovingly depicted in beautiful and imaginative detail.
